What PriorityLearn collects when you read this site, why, and how to get it removed.

Who runs this site

PriorityLearn is an independent publisher covering how school actually works — grade levels and ages, academic-integrity tools, teachers and professors, and school rules. It is edited by Josh Hutcheson. You can reach us at editor@prioritylearn.com or through our contact page.

For data-protection purposes, PriorityLearn is the controller of the information described below.

What we collect, and why

Three things, and that is the whole list.

1. Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people read, roughly where in the world they arrive from, and whether a page answered the question. This is how we decide what to write and what to fix.

Google Analytics sets cookies and processes information such as your approximate location (derived from your IP address, which Google truncates), your device and browser type, the pages you view, and how you arrived. We do not use it to identify you personally, and we have not enabled advertising or remarketing features on it.

Google acts as our processor for this data. Its own handling is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. You can block it entirely with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser — the site works fine either way.

2. Comments

Some articles accept comments. If you leave one, WordPress stores the comment text, the name and email address you enter, your IP address, and your browser’s user-agent string. The email address is not published; it is used to identify you as the commenter and to reply. Comments may be checked by an automated spam filter.

If you tick “save my name and email”, WordPress sets cookies on your own device so you don’t have to retype them. Those are stored by your browser, not by us, and they expire after a year.

We keep comments and their metadata indefinitely so that follow-up replies still make sense, unless you ask us to delete them.

3. Server logs

Our web host records standard access logs — IP address, timestamp, the page requested, and the referring page. These exist to keep the site running and to deal with abuse and attacks. They are kept for a short period and then rotated out by the host.

What we don’t do

• We don’t sell or share your personal information — for money or for anything else, and we never have.
• We don’t run advertising on the site today. PriorityLearn intends to be supported by advertising in future. If and when that changes, this page will be updated to name the advertising partners and describe their cookies before any ads are served.
• We don’t have accounts, logins, newsletters or paywalls, so there is no profile of you to build.
• We don’t use tracking pixels from social networks or ad platforms.

Cookies in plain terms

You can delete or block all of these in your browser settings. Nothing on PriorityLearn breaks if you do.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can email editor@prioritylearn.com and ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. We’ll action it and confirm when it’s done. We don’t charge for this and we won’t treat you differently for asking.

If you’re in the UK or EU (UK GDPR / GDPR)

You have the right to access your data, correct it, erase it, restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy in a portable format. Our lawful basis is legitimate interest for analytics and server logs — running and improving a website — and consent for comment cookies, which you give by ticking the box. You can withdraw that consent at any time by clearing your cookies. You also have the right to complain to your national data-protection authority; in the UK that is the Information Commissioner’s Office.

If you’re in California (CCPA / CPRA)

You have the right to know what personal information we collect and why, to request its deletion, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of, and we do not process sensitive personal information for inferring characteristics. Making a request will never get you a worse experience on the site.

Children’s privacy

PriorityLearn writes about school, and some of our readers are school-age. The site is a general-audience reference resource — it is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

The only place a reader can hand us personal information is the comment form. If you are under 13, please don’t leave a comment. If you’re a parent or guardian and you believe your child has left one, email editor@prioritylearn.com and we will delete it and its associated data promptly.

Where your data goes

The site is hosted in the United States, and Google Analytics processes data on infrastructure in the United States and elsewhere. If you read PriorityLearn from outside the US, your information will be processed there. Google’s transfer safeguards are described in its own privacy policy, linked above.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, and administrative access is limited and password-protected. No website can promise perfect security, but there is very little to steal here: we hold no payment details, no accounts, and no sensitive records.

Changes to this policy

If our data practices change — most likely when advertising is introduced — we will update this page and change the “last updated” date at the top. Material changes will be described here rather than made quietly.
